Purpose:

To effectively manage and coordinate mining operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable production while adhering to legal regulations and industry best practices. The Mine Overseer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mining operations, including planning, execution, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans, including production targets, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
  • Operational Management: Oversee daily mining operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, efficient utilization of resources, and achievement of production goals.
  • Contractor Management: Collaborate with mining contractors to ensure their performance aligns with company objectives, including safety standards, quality control, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture, enforce compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, and conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of mining professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement innovative solutions, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and community representatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mining operations, with a focus on contractor management
  • Proven track record of achieving production targets while maintaining high safety standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Deep understanding of mining regulations and industry best practices
  • Proficiency in mining planning software and data analysis tools
