Job Description

To manage and oversee all environmental aspects of the reclamation operation, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices. The Environmental Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management plans, conducting regular inspections, and providing guidance on best practices for environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Management: Develop and implement comprehensive environmental management plans for the reclamation operation, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with environmental laws and regulations, including waste management, water quality, and air quality standards.
  • Inspection and Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential environmental risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to address environmental concerns and promote sustainable practices.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental best practices, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in mining or reclamation operations
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring and reporting tools

Additional Requirements:

  • Certification in environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001) preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
