Job Description
Mine Hire is seeking a trade-tested Underground Electrician with High Tension (HT) experience for a leading PGM mining operation situated in Rustenburg, North West.
Role Overview & Purpose
The Underground Electrician is tasked with the installation, inspection, maintenance, and fault-finding of high-voltage reticulation networks, underground substations, pump stations, winders, and electrical systems on trackless mobile equipment.
Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical reticulation systems (up to 11kV/33kV), mini-substations, switchgear, and transformers.
- Conduct routine maintenance and fault-finding on underground pump stations, main ventilation fans, conveyor drives, and winches.
- Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and PLC panels on electro-hydraulic TMM drill rigs and utility machinery.
- Execute statutory HT switching, isolation, and lockout procedures in compliance with mine safety regulations and DMR standards.
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs, statutory inspection records, and safety documentation.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Grade 12 / N3 Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
- Recognised Section 13 or Section 26D Trade Test (Electrician / Millwright) from an accredited MQA / MERSETA institution.
- Valid High Tension (HT) / Medium Voltage Switching Certificate.
- Minimum 3–5 years post-qualification underground mining experience.
- Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket).
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s License.
Remuneration & Benefits
Salary: R45,000 – R62,000 per month (CTC, shift allowances, pension, and medical aid).
