We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Mining Engineer to join our team in Gauteng on a permanent basis.This is an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Career Mining Engineer with 5-8 years of relevant experience who is looking to take on a key technical role within the mining environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and overseeing mining operations, developing and implementing effective mining plans, improving operational efficiency and ensuring that all activities comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, and stringent health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• 5-8 years’ relevant experience in a mining engineering environment
• Diploma in Mining Engineering – NQF Level 6, or relevant higher qualification
• Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
• A qualification specifically in Mining Engineering will be highly advantageous
• Candidates with closely related engineering qualifications, such as Civil, Mechanical, or Geological Engineering, may be considered where their experience is directly relevant to mining operations.
• Strong understanding of mining principles, planning, and operational processes.
• Develop, implement, and manage effective mining plans and production strategies
• Assist with the planning and design of underground and open-pit mining operations
• Plan and direct the development of shafts, tunnels, underground workings, and open-pit layouts where applicable
• Evaluate geological and ore body information to determine appropriate mining approaches
• Select suitable mining and extraction methods, machinery, and equipment based on geological conditions, rock strata, and ore body characteristics
• Monitor and optimise mining processes to improve productivity, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and resource utilisation
