Underground Fitter – Rail Bound & Logistics Equipment – Westonaria

Job Description

A major underground mining operation in Westonaria is looking for a qualified Fitter to maintain rail-bound equipment, locomotives, and underground logistics infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair rail-bound equipment (RBE), locomotives, hydraulic systems, and bulk air coolers
• Conduct statutory inspections in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Perform breakdown management and root-cause fault analysis
• Schedule and execute preventive and corrective maintenance
• Manage spares requirements and log defects accurately
• Be available for standby, overtime, and emergency callouts

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid Fitter trade test certificate
• 4+ years’ experience with hydraulics/pneumatics and underground logistics equipment
• Medical Certificate of Fitness, including heat tolerance clearance
• Strong fault-finding ability and safety leadership track record
