Diesel Mechanic – Underground Gold Mining – Mpumalanga

Job Description

An underground gold mining operation in Mpumalanga is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trackless mobile machinery (TMM), including drill rigs, dump trucks, and LHDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance on underground TMM equipment
• Apply lockout/isolation procedures consistently and safely
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and drivetrain faults
• Complete job cards, service sheets, and handover reports accurately
• Carry out lubrication, inspections, and service checklists
• Test repaired systems and maintain machine service history
• Comply fully with health and safety regulations underground

Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF level 4) or equivalent
• 5 years TMM maintenance experience, including 3 years underground
• Experience with major TMM brands (Sandvik, GHH, Atlas Copco or similar) advantageous
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read hydraulic circuits
• Medical Certificate of Fitness for underground work
