Diesel Plant Fitter – Heavy Mining Equipment – Mpumalanga

Job Description

A well-established Mpumalanga coal mining operation is urgently seeking a qualified Diesel Plant Fitter to maintain and repair heavy mining equipment. This is a high-demand trade role offering excellent pay, overtime opportunities, and long-term stability with a major employer.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered mining plant and heavy equipment (ADTs, dozers, excavators, drill rigs)
• Carry out scheduled and breakdown maintenance to minimize downtime
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
• Complete accurate job cards, service reports, and maintenance records
• Ensure all work complies with safety, health, and environmental standards
• Mentor apprentices and junior fitters on site
• Respond to emergency breakdowns as part of a standby rotation

Requirements

• Red Seal Trade Test Certificate – Diesel Mechanic or Fitter
• 3+ years post-trade experience on heavy mining/earthmoving equipment
• Valid driver’s license; own transport advantageous
• Medical Certificate of Fitness
• Strong fault-finding and mechanical aptitude
• Willingness to work standby and overtime when required
